Challenge

Food waste is one of the major problems around the world. Through researching data and reflecting on my own experiences in other countries, I felt the need to address this issue. Since there are already several B-to-B apps tackling this problem, I set my goal to create a food-sharing app focused on
C-to-C interactions to contribute to the solution.

    =79kg of food annually on average for each person

  • 631 million tonnes / 60% of waste comes from households

  • 83% of them have thrown food away before because of expiration day/big portion in Canada

  • They feel “wasting money” > “wasting food” when they throw those away

  • Details of the products and person such as name/age/review are needed for checking the safety and trustability of food or the trader

  • 67% of them felt the product was "very safe" if it has 2 weeks by expiration day
